Description
It is essential that residential facilities are equipped and ready to respond to disasters that endanger the lives of residents and staff, and damage property. While not all disasters may be anticipated, studies demonstrate that preparation, knowing how to respond when a disaster strikes, and remaining calm and flexible can save lives and reduce physical damage.
Objectives
By the end of this course, users will be prepared to cope with:
- Power outages
- Thunderstorms, landslides, tornadoes, and floods
- Earthquakes and tsunamis
- Wildfires
- Infectious disease outbreaks
They will also learn how to interpret emergency notices from government service organizations such as the National weather Service, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.
