The proper management of medications is essential for the health and safety of residents in a residential facility. This course covers Title 22 regulations related to medication assistance to ensure compliance with requirements and best practices. 
It is designed to prepare participants from all types of residential facilities to safely assist residents with self-administration of medications. The course provides a basic understanding of medications and teaches a step-by-step approach to prevent errors and promote the best health outcomes for residents.

Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • State what unlicensed staff can and cannot do to assist residents with medications
  • Recognize the desired of a resident's medications
  • Demonstrate the procedure for assisting residents with medications
  • Compare prescriptions and medication lables to ensure the resident's medication is what the physician ordered
  • Complete documentation for storaging, assisting, and destroying residents' medication
  • Describe the process for ordering, receiving medicatioin from the pharmacy
