This four‐hour course will instruct facility staff in how to analyze the emergency needs of the facility and provide guidance for the writing and implementation of a disaster plan. Disasters of all kinds are reviewed, from weather emergencies to terrorist attacks.

Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to write a  disaster preparedness plan tailored to the specific needs and characteristics of their facilities. They will be able to prepare their facilities for:

  • Technological Emergencies
  • Thunderstorms, Landslides, Tornadoes, Floods, Hurricanes
  • Earthquakes and Tsunamis
  • Wildfires and domestic fires
  • Hazardous Materials Spills
  • Terrorist attacks (explosive, chemical, biological and radioactive)

They will also learn how to interpret emergency notices from government service organizations such as the National weather Service, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.
